What are Stock Restrictions?
Stock restrictions allow you to exclude specific stocks from being purchased when copying a portfolio. This feature gives you more control over your investments by letting you avoid:
- Securities restricted by your company's blackout periods
- Stocks you simply prefer not to invest in for personal reasons
When you restrict a stock, the value that would have been allocated to that restricted stock is held as cash in your portfolio rather than being redistributed to other securities. This ensures you're following the original strategy minus the restricted stock, rather than creating a completely different version of the portfolio.
Note: Stock restrictions are platform-wide settings, not portfolio-specific. Once you restrict a stock, it will be replaced with cash in ALL portfolios that would normally rebalance into that restricted stock.
How to Enable Stock Restrictions
During the Copy Process:
- When copying a portfolio, you'll see the investment confirmation screen
- Look for the link stating "Need to restrict one or more stocks?"
- Tap this link to access the Single Stock Restrictions page
Setting Up Restrictions:
- On the Single Stock Restrictions page, you'll see the question "Are there any stocks that you don't want us to trade?"
- Use the search bar to find specific stocks you want to restrict
- Tap on the stocks from the search results to add them to your restricted list
- Your restricted stocks will appear under "My Restricted Stocks" section
- Tap "Save" to confirm your restrictions
- Complete your copy order as normal
Note: You can only update your restriction list once per day.

Important Things to Know
- Daily Limit: You can only update your restriction list once per day
- Rebalancing: Changes to restrictions will take effect at the next portfolio rebalance
- Allocation Adjustment: When you restrict stocks, the remaining portfolio allocation is automatically adjusted among the unrestricted securities
- Cash Allocation: Restricted stocks are replaced with cash rather than reallocating to other securities in the portfolio
