Understanding Trusted Contacts
What is a Trusted Contact?
A trusted contact is a person you authorize dub to contact in specific limited circumstances. This feature adds an extra layer of security to your account without giving the designated person any control over your investments.
A trusted contact person must be age 18 or older.
Important: Naming someone as a trusted contact does not give that person any authority to act on your behalf, execute transactions, or engage in activity in your account.
Currently, dub does not offer joint accounts or allow third-party trading authority. Only the registered account holder can make transactions in a dub account.
When Would dub Contact Your Trusted Contact?
dub may reach out to your trusted contact only in specific situations:
- If we cannot reach you and need to confirm your current contact information
- If we suspect potential financial exploitation or fraud in your account
- If we have concerns about your health status that might affect your account
- To verify the identity of any legal guardian, executor, trustee, or holder of a power of attorney on your account
How to Add a Trusted Contact
Adding a trusted contact to your dub account is simple:
- Open the dub app and tap on your profile icon in the top right corner
- Under "Settings," find and tap on "Trusted Contact"
- Enter your trusted contact's information, including their name, relationship to you, phone number, and email address
- Review and confirm the information
You can change or remove your trusted contact at any time by following the same steps.
Beneficiary Information
Current Beneficiary Options
At this time, dub does not offer direct beneficiary designation within our app. Your dub account is a standard individual brokerage account held in your name.
Estate Planning Considerations
While we don't currently have an in-app beneficiary feature, here are some important considerations for your estate planning:
- Work with professionals: We recommend consulting with an estate planning attorney to include your dub account in your overall estate plan.
- Documentation: In the event of your passing, your executor or legal representative would need to contact dub with the appropriate documentation to manage your account.
- Account access: For security reasons, dub cannot provide account access to anyone other than the registered account holder.
Future Developments
We're continuously working to improve our services. If you're interested in beneficiary features, please let us know through our feedback channels. We value your input as we develop new account management options.
