We've added two AI-powered features to your dub experience. Both appear as small "chips" on a Portfolio Detail Page — the screen you see when you tap into any portfolio on dub.
- The Portfolio Summary chip describes what a portfolio holds and how it has performed historically.
- The Personalized Insights chip compares a portfolio's characteristics to the information you provided during account setup, for example, surfacing how a portfolio's historical risk compares to the risk level you indicated.
These features are designed to make portfolio data easier to read. They are not investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell a particular portfolio. This article explains how the features work, the data they use, their limitations, and what to do if something looks wrong.
Important: these features are for educational purposes only
Both AI chips present factual, backward-looking information drawn from the same portfolio and account data you already see elsewhere in the dub app. The AI chips are here to help you read that data more quickly. They are Not investment advice. dub Financial, LLC (broker-dealer) and dub Advisors, LLC (investment adviser) do not use these features to recommend specific securities or portfolios. The Personalized Insights chip may reference information you provided during account setup, but it does so to surface factual comparisons, not to assess whether a portfolio is appropriate for your circumstances and therefore, not a substitute for your own research. Review each portfolio's full detail page, read the creator's description critically, and consider consulting a qualified professional before making any investment decision. Past performance is not indicative of future results. |
How the features work
The AI chips use a large language model governed by a structured compliance framework. When you view a portfolio, the model receives a curated set of data about the portfolio, your account, and (for the Personalized Insights chip) the information you provided during account setup. It then produces a short, natural-language description using only that data, subject to the rules below.
The model does not browse the internet, does not access market data beyond what dub provides, and has no information about you beyond what you provided during account setup and what is visible in your dub account. It does not remember prior sessions or carry context between portfolios.
Where the information comes from
We use three categories of information, each handled differently.
Verified portfolio data
This is information computed by dub's systems from actual trading and account records, a portfolio's current holdings, its historical return, its system risk score, rebalance cadence, the creator's personal investment in the portfolio, and its copier count. The AI chips can state this information directly because it is computed from records, not opinion.
Creator-provided descriptions
Every portfolio on dub is created by a person ("the creator") who writes their own bio and strategy description. Those descriptions are the creator's own characterization of their strategy. They are not reviewed, verified, or endorsed by dub. Whenever the AI chips reference this content, it will be attributed to the creator and, where practical, quoted directly, for example, "The creator describes this strategy as…"
Information you provided
During account setup, you answered questions about your net worth, income, financial goal, time horizon, trading experience, risk tolerance, and loss comfort. The Personalized Insights chip may reference those answers to surface factual comparisons, for example, comparing a portfolio's system risk score to the risk level you indicated. When it does, it will make clear that the information came from you ("Based on what you provided during account setup…").
If any of the information you provided during account setup has changed, please update your suitability information from your Account settings. Outdated suitability information will affect what the Personalized Insights chip shows you.
Risks and limitations
AI-generated content has known limitations. Please read these before relying on anything these features say.
Accuracy
We have designed and tested the AI chips extensively, and every output passes through a structured compliance review. Even so, AI models can occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete descriptions. Always cross-check specific figures, returns, holdings, percentages, against the primary data shown on the Portfolio Detail Page.
Staleness
The data used by the AI chips is a snapshot taken when you load the portfolio. It is not real-time and may not reflect intraday market movement or very recent rebalances.
Creator content is unverified
Descriptions written by portfolio creators may be inaccurate, outdated, or promotional in nature. dub does not verify creator-authored content. The AI chips will always attribute creator content to the creator and will not present that content as dub's own statement.
Suitability information is self-reported
dub does not independently verify the information you provided during account setup. It is treated as your stated preferences, not as validated facts about you. If anything has changed, please update it in Account settings.
Not a fit assessment
The Personalized Insights chip does not produce a fit score, grade, rating, or verdict. It presents side-by-side facts, "this portfolio has a system risk score of 7; you indicated a moderate risk tolerance", and leaves the judgment to you. Whether a portfolio is appropriate for your circumstances is a decision only you can make.
Forward-looking limits
The AI chips do not predict future performance. Where historical performance is cited, it is historical only, and past performance is not indicative of future results.
No tax, legal, or financial planning advice
The AI chips are informational. They are not tax advice, not legal advice, and not financial planning. For those, please consult a qualified professional.
How we supervise these features
dub's Legal & Compliance team maintains a written rules reference governing what the AI chips can and cannot say. Every output is evaluated against that reference using a structured scoring system, and outputs that do not meet the compliance threshold are not shown. In addition:
- Every AI output is logged and retained in accordance with applicable regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
- A sample of live outputs is reviewed by human compliance personnel on an ongoing basis.
- The rules reference, the model's prompts, and the scoring framework are reviewed and updated over time based on evaluations and customer feedback.
If you see something that looks wrong
If an AI chip shows information that looks incorrect, misleading, or doesn't match the rest of the Portfolio Detail Page, please let us know. You can:
- Email our support team at support@dubapp.com.
- Submit a request through the Help Center.
We take feedback on AI outputs seriously and escalate potential inaccuracies to our compliance team for review.
Formal disclosures
The following disclosures appear on or alongside every AI chip output. They are also reproduced here for your reference.
