When opening your dub account, we may request certain verification documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to protect your account security.
Why We May Request Verification Documents
During the account opening process, verification documents may be requested for various reasons, including:
- To verify your identity
- To confirm your residential address
- To validate your date of birth
- To verify your Social Security Number
- When information provided doesn't match public records
- When automated verification systems require additional confirmation
Acceptable Verification Documents
Reminder: We can only accept residential addresses - PO boxes are not accepted. Using a PO box or incomplete address will result in verification delays.
Address Verification
If we need to verify your residential address, the following documents can be accepted:
- Utility bill (electric, water, gas, internet, cell phone bill, etc.; dated within the last 90 days)
- Bank statement (dated within the last 90 days)
- Mortgage statement
- Voter registration card
- Lease or rental agreement
- Government-issued ID with address printed on it
Tip to Avoid Address Verification Delays:
When submitting your initial application, please be sure to include your apartment or unit number if applicable. Applications with complete address information (including unit numbers) are more likely to be automatically approved without requiring additional address verification documents.
Name or Date of Birth Verification
If we need to verify your name or date of birth, we can accept a photo of your:
- Driver's license
- State-issued ID card
- Passport
Social Security Number Verification
If we need to verify your Social Security Number, we can accept a photo of your:
- Social Security card
How to Submit Verification Documents
You may be prompted to submit verification documents in one of two ways:
- Within the App: You may receive a prompt directly in the dub app to upload required documents
- Via Email: Our support team may send you an email with a link to our secure submission portal
For your protection, we partner with Zendesk, a platform that safeguards your information with enterprise-grade encryption and is protected by multiple security certifications, including SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.
Tips for a Smooth Verification Process
- Double-check your information before submitting your application to avoid delays
- Ensure all documents are clear and legible (not blurry or partially cut off)
- Make sure documents are current and not expired
- Confirm that all four corners of the document are visible in your uploads
- Verify that your name matches across all documents and your application
- Submit documents in color
- Respond promptly to document requests to avoid delays in account approval
Processing Timeline
Once you've submitted your verification documents, our team will review them as quickly as possible. This process typically takes no more than 24 hours. You can check the status of your application in the dub app.
